There is definitely no shortage in products when it comes to hair clays but we did the work testing them all out to find you the best ones out there.
Use Styling Clays for Hairstyles With Volume
If you are new to styling clays they are similar to a hair wax but keep your hair soft and malleable and are a favourite amongst people looking to achieve hairstyles with volume. If you rock a quaff or a modern messy pompadour then hair clays are definitely for you.
Here are our 3 favourite clays in no particular order, with a couple honourable mentions
Blumaan Cavalier Clay
This bad boy has it all. amazing hold, the ability to reshape your hair throughout the day and keeps your hair soft and dry looking. A little goes a long way with this product so make sure you don’t use to much to weigh your hair down. It is an oil based clay so it doesn’t wash out super easy if you wash your hair with just water but it does wash out fully when using shampoo.
Moroccanoil Texture Clay
This is another wonder product. The Moroccanoil clay is the best all around clay, it’ll work for most people. It has a softer consistency then the Blumaan Cavalier Clay but still maintains great hold. It is infused with argon oil which is great for your hair and helps with heat protection if you use the clay as a pre styler. We usually pre-style with different products and finish with clays but you could use it for a pre or post styler.
Hanz de Fuzo Claymation
This is more of a clay/wax hybrid. It has fantastic hold and is super easy to work with in your hair. It is completely water soluble so it’s easy to wash out and gives a semi matte finish. Remember with any clay to warm it by rubbing it between your palms before putting it in your hair, this makes it much easier to style and shape your hair with it.
Honourable Mentions
If you have thinner or fine hair the above products may not be the best for your as they are thicker products… but don’t worry we have you covered. These are the best clays for people with fine or thin hair:
